‘Tis the season for event after event after event. When it comes to the holidays, Austin’s jam-packed with festivals, fairs, and parties to end the year. Here’s our list of 25 things to do before the 25th.

37th Street Christmas Lights

What started as a holiday project by one Austin resident has now turned into holiday tradition. Take a stroll down 37th Street to experience some of the most colorful and quirkiest light decorations in the city.

Hill Country Holiday Village

New this year to the Hill Country Galleria, the Holiday Village features Santa’s Workshop, dance and choir performances, and local artisan vendors to help with last-minute Christmas shopping. And, of course, expect plenty of family photo-ops.

Gingerbread House Decorating Party at Eberly

Christmas Light Show at Mozart’s

Zilker Holiday Tree

Don’t miss the 53rd lighting of the iconic Zilker Holiday Tree, which has received a glow-up this year, featuring mostly LED lights in a bid to become more sustainable. Pumpkins have their moment every October. We all know the virtues of eating pumpkin: abundant anti-cancer beta-carotene, vitamin A, low calories, some iron, and a good dose of potassium.
This month you can find pumpkin in everything from waffles to pasta, coffee drinks and ice cream. We’re so fortunate to live in a region that provides so many options to get outside and enjoy our surroundings just moments from our concierge apartments in Austin.  And this fall is no exception; it’s almost overwhelming.  And with that said, we thought we’d share one of two of our ‘favorite things to do this fall’ with you!

With the new year comes a variety of new opportunities to celebrate the arts and culture that make our city such a great place to live and work.  This month we’re dedicating our January Blogs to share insight about Austin’s long-standing and nationally recognized independent fine art printmaking scene.

Thanks to lots of energy by many or our visual arts, those whose artistry is in printmaking in particular, there’s a new celebration entitled “PRINT AUSTIN” underway now through February as well that showcases some of the finest renown print collections, printmaking programs and more that welcome all of us to enjoy. 

To get you started, we’ve highlighted some of our favorite events from Print Austin’s website and will share our synopsis through this blog and our next blog that will be published later this month.

Workshop: DIY Printing Techniques
Discover a few DIY printing techniques that you can easily and inexpensively do at home.  Through a combination of in-class demos and studio time, each student will create multiple prints and have the opportunity to participate in a group print exchange. CAMIBAart is honored to present this solo exhibition by internationally recognized artist Orna Feinstein.  Known for expanding the envelope of monoprintmaking with her exploration of both materials and techniques, Feinstein’s artworks blur the boundary of printing and sculpting.

Wolfbat Archives
Moving his studio once again, Dennis McNett unearths print inventory. This is a showing of both new editions and prints buried in the Wolfbat archives from the last decade.
