FORMULA 1 United States Grand Prix & Taylor Swift Concert
OCTOBER 21 – 23
Circuit of The AmericasTM
Although this event doesn’t really fall into the “fall festival” theme of this blog, we could not possibly omit it from the list of fun things to do in Austin this month. If you have never attended a Formula 1 race, pack up the family from your home at LeMontreaux and head to the Circuit of The Americas TM track.
Noted as “The premier destination for world-class motorsports and entertainment in the United States”, this prestigious race is hosted on 1,500 acres in the rolling hills just outside downtown Austin. Since 2012, our city has hosted this event on a 3.41mile track that has seen some of the biggest competitors in the world compete for one of the biggest titles in the business.
But wait, there’s more! Even if you are not a race fan, make plans to get your tickets to see headliner Taylor Swift who is set to perform on October 22. Her concert, and others, take place at the Super Stage in the infield of the Circuit.
For complete information, click here to the Circuit of America’s website.
Texas Monthly BBQ Festival
October 30
City Terrace at The Long Center
According to the festival’s promotion department, “This tasty festival only has four rules: muster as many of Texas' best BBQ joints as possible; have them serve up their specialties, side-by-side; let smoke and sauce fly for five intoxicating hours; and finally, let The People decide who made the best goods.” With that said, we’ll be out the door from our apartment in Austin to secure front row seat and to indulge in what will without a doubt be some of the best ribs, pork, and party, too, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on October 30.
Annually sponsored by Texas Monthly, the “TMBBQ Fest” hosts 27 of their top 50 BBQ joints in the world. Plus, there will be pouring some of the best of the brews and sprits from Shiner Beer and Legacy Whisky. Don’t think this is just for adults as there will be plenty for the kids to do with interactive games presented by sponsors Texas A & M, YETI Coolers, Central Market, and Nationwide Insurance.
To top it all off, Santiago Jimenez, Jr. and Warren Hood will perform throughout the event all day long.
For more information, visit the festival’s website at TMBBQ.com. And to purchase tickets in advance, the festival recommends you join the TMBBQ Club for special discounts and more by clicking here.
