May is one of the best times to visit Austin, Texas, when warm weather, live music, and a packed festival calendar come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere. From food and music to art and culture, the city offers something for everyone throughout the month – just a short drive from our apartments to rent or lease at Le Montreaux in Austin, Texas.

One of the most iconic events is the Pecan Street Festival, held in the historic Sixth Street district. This long-running street fair transforms downtown into a lively hub of artists, food vendors, and live music. Visitors can browse handmade goods, enjoy local eats, and soak in Austin’s creative energy at one of the largest arts festivals in Texas.

Food lovers won’t want to miss the Hot Luck Food & Music Festival, a multi-day celebration of culinary talent and live entertainment. Typically held over Memorial Day weekend, this event brings together renowned chefs, backyard barbecue vibes, and live music performances across the city. It’s a uniquely Austin experience that blends the city’s foodie culture with its music roots.

Music is everywhere in Austin in May, and events like Blues on the Green at Zilker Park offer a more relaxed way to enjoy it. This free outdoor concert series draws crowds who gather with blankets, picnics, and friends to enjoy live performances under the Texas sky.

For something a bit different, the ATX Television Festival attracts fans and industry insiders alike. Held downtown, this unique event celebrates television with premieres, panels, and appearances from actors and creators. It’s a must for entertainment lovers looking to experience Austin’s creative side beyond music.

Austin also embraces its quirky personality in May with events like Eeyore’s Birthday Party, a beloved local tradition featuring costumes, drum circles, and community-driven fun in the park. It’s one of those “only in Austin” experiences that perfectly captures the city’s free-spirited vibe.

Other highlights include the iHeartRadio Country Festival, showcasing top country artists, and the Front Market, a vibrant shopping and community event featuring local vendors and creatives.

In Austin, May is all about getting outside, celebrating creativity, and enjoying the city’s signature mix of music, food, and culture.

Whether you’re wandering through a street festival, tasting your way through a food event, or relaxing at an outdoor concert, there’s no shortage of ways to experience the energy of the season.  For endless ways to enjoy Austin, click into AustinTexas.org!

Right here at LeMontreaux apartments for rent or lease in Austin, Texas, we look forward to BBQing by the pool, picnics at our beautiful parks, and heading out to experience some of our favorite spring events in Austin.  Earlier this month, we posted a blog about some of the top events for families to enjoy in Austin.  This time, we’re offering more ideas about the things to do outdoors in Austin with springtime in full swing!

To ensure you enjoy spring in Austin, we put together some ideas we think you will enjoy with your friends and family in tow. Need more ideas? Never hesitate to stop by our office for some local advice and insight!

April is peak wildflower season in Central Texas and there are plenty of places to pack a picnic and pause to take a picture or two.

First, hit one of our many Farmer’s Markets that always promise fresh produce, local honey, and specialty breads and baked goods. Then, head to Lady Bird Lake or Zilker Park – the latter of which is ideal for the kiddos with a ride on the Zilker Zephyr Miniature Train.

The weather is also ideal for kayaking or paddle boarding or taking your first dip in one of our many lakes and streams that work their way through Austin’s parks and countrysides.  Speaking of which, for a bit of elevation, take a short hike up Mount Bonnell. It’s one of the highest points in Austin with sweeping views of the Colorado River.  We save this hike for after work to take in the sunsets!

If you have company coming in for Spring Break or just to visit, April is packed with events. Refer back to our earlier blog this month for a full list – then be sure not to miss our favorites: The iconic ABC Kite Fest fills the sky with colorful kites and family-friendly fun. Meanwhile, the Old Settler’s Music Festival brings together bluegrass, folk, and Americana fans for a multi-day celebration.

Beyond festivals, live music spills out from patios, breweries, and iconic venues all over town. Whether it’s an afternoon acoustic set or a lively evening show, there’s always something to enjoy while dining al’ fresco in Austin! Grab tacos from a local food truck, enjoy slow-smoked barbecue, or sip craft cocktails on a rooftop overlooking downtown. We always recommend a stroll down South Congress Avenue that offers a mix of shopping, street eats, and quirky local charm.

From wildflower walks and waterfront adventures to live music and incredible food, April in Austin delivers something for everyone. It’s where you can spend the morning outdoors, the afternoon exploring, and the evening listening to live music under the stars—and that’s what makes living at LeMontreaux community apartments for lease such a perfect place to call “home sweet home!”

Earlier this month, we offered some of the most romantic things to do in Austin. And there are sooo many options, our family at Le Montreaux apartments to rent in Austin decided to share a few more to ensure you and yours enjoy the month of February to your heart’s content!

Experience a Bird’s Eye View for TWO!

This is one big hint for impressing your date any time or day of the year.  Thanks to the professional pilots at Austin’s helicopter tours, you can see Austin from a  bird’s eye view.  Make this a must-do – for two!  The sights of the city are every reason to save up to spoil the one(s) you love.  Viator travel offers several options and is ready to take you and your Valentine on a trip of a lifetime!

Say “I DO” at Sunset

Over the years, we have written about Austin’s classic spots to see some of the most spectacular sights.  For those who are looking for THE spot to pop the question, let us re-recommend some top spots to see the sun set in Austin:

Mount Bonnell
The Oasis on Lake Travis
Lady Bird Lake
Covert Park
360 Bridge

Get Your Motor (and your heart) Running

Here are several ways to get your heart racing while taking in the sandy and sunny sights through off-road riding adventures in Austin. To get your motor running, sign up and get ready to ride along with one of their certified tour guides through miles of trails, rocky hills, compact dirt roads, and more! Be sure to bring your camera to capture all the Instagramable pics along the way.

Giddy-up!

If horsin’ around seems like something your loved one would love, there are more than enough opportunities to surprise your valentine with an exclusive ‘couples’ horseback riding adventure. We highly recommend you schedule your ride just before the sunsets to paint a perfect picture for a date night out.  For the best of the best in the business, Trip Advisor has some good options for horseback riding tours in Austin to check out.

Seek out the Stars

For a much quieter pace for passionate times together, gather a blanket and your best friend and head out of town to stargaze into the night.  Fuel the fun and romance by packing a dinner-style picnic, complete with candlelight, chocolate and of course, a bottle of bubbly to toast into the night.

Just Say Spahhh

When it’s time to unplug, unwind and try something unconventional, it’s time to reserve some ‘float therapy’ time  or a day at the spa at one of Austin’s award-winning spas.  Ideal for both individuals and couples, this “surreal and almost sci‑fi experience” can be the perfect ending to an adventurous day in the great outdoors. Fortunately for all who live in and around our apartment community in Texas, a fine selection of top spas in Austin offers the perfect escape. Whether your life overflows with family commitments or perhaps too many hours at work, we encourage you to find some ‘me’ time at some of our favorite spas noted below.

Austin’s Fairmont Spa
Milk + honey
Omni Barton Creek

Hiatus Spa + Retreat

Fatal Fear Haunted House

Fear Haunted House started as a passion project, a “pro-level” home haunt driven by our love for horror and a deep connection to our community. With the help of dedicated volunteers, they transformed Halloween into an unforgettable experience, with one goal in mind: to terrify and thrill their guests while raising funds for local nonprofits and performing arts venues.

Bat City Scaregrounds

If you want to head to a haunted house in south Austin, Bat City Scaregrounds is for you. It has been rated Top 10 most "fun, immersive experiences in Austin" and for all the right reasons. Boo at the Zoo

Closing up our list of Halloween haunts, If you’re looking for a kid-friendly scary event in Austin, check out the Austin Zoo’s annual event, Boo At The Zoo. Yes, it’s that time of the year when Pumpkins start popping up on the doorsteps at LeMontreaux apartments in Austin, and throughout our festive city.  Make your plans now to head on over to Sweet Berry Farm (in Maple Falls) then put Georgetown’s Sweet Eats and Springs Ranch on your list as well.  Sip on some cider, enjoy the homemade treats and get a head-start on your holiday shopping list, too!

Ride into the Spectacular Colors of Fall

Soon, the Texas Hill Country will be overflowing with the colors of the fall season. And as soon as those temperatures cool off, it’s the perfect spot to head into the hills on horseback. Here are two of the best guided trail ride companies that we recommend.

Texas Trail Rides: For a traditional ride throughout the ranch with more adventurous options, Texas Trail Rides welcomes the novice to the most advanced. Looking for something different to do for that next birthday or bachelor party? Check out what they call the “ultimate Texas experience” that includes skeet shooting, ax throwing and trick roping, too!

Maverick Horseback Riding: Just one click into their website sets the tone with a quote from Winston S. Churchill: “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” They continue to describe their approach to sharing their horses with humans. “Guests who seek out Maverick’s horsemanship experience love that we offer low-key, relaxing trail rides AND engaging, challenging and highly rewarding horsemanship experiences."

Gather the family around a cozy campfire and enjoy the beauty of nature with an overnight camping trip.

Plan a Fall Stay-cation

Weekends are made for wanderers and Auditorium Shores is a super spot to get away for a Stay-cation in Austin. What to pack? Take it all! This dog-friendly park is well-planned with volleyball and basketball courts and fields to toss the ball for Fido or just a friendly game on the turf. And there’s plenty of water sport opportunities, so take the kayak, canoe, bring your boat and don’t forget the fishing gear.

Get Wet, and Wild!

With temperatures still in the 90s, having fun on the water is always on our “things to do with our family" in Austin. Krause Springs is one of the best spots to go swimming near Austin as the natural springs keep the pools full year-round regardless of drought. You never have to worry about water levels like many other Austin swimming holes. The property is a sight to be seen with 32 springs, camping grounds, and even a butterfly garden.

Get Ready For Halloween

Forget the stress and step out to see the enormous selection of costume shops in Austin through this list below. If you would rather do something less traditional, keep reading – we have more ideas that follow this list.

Party City – Sunset Valley Village

Party City – Balcones Woods

If you’re feeling a little more daring, hit the thrift or consignment shops to get your creative juices flowing.

As summer comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to create memorable adventures this fall in and around Austin, Texas! Check out these fun activities below and watch for our next Blog later this month with more ideas on what to do in Austin in the fall.

Savor the Seasonal Fruits & Veggies

After you have selected some of the season’s finest fruits, it’s time to savor and save the flavors for those holiday feasts to come. From plums to peaches to all the prunes in season, preserving those seasonal favorites is a classic way to spend a fall day. It’s also a great way to get kids excited about math, as measuring the goods comes with tasty rewards!

To get you started, we found a super simple website that lays out the basics of canning from the folks at SeriousEats.com.

Some of the best recipes can be found at BallMasonJars.com. Some of our favorites that are a little out of the ordinary, yet ideal for fall feasts include:

Habanero Apricot Jam
Carrot Cake Jam
Spiced Tomato Jam

And this ‘must-make’ seasonal favorite: Apple Butter

Attend the Pecan Street Festival

On September 14th and 15th, this Festival is one of the largest, and longest-running, arts/crafts and music festivals in the nation, presented by The Pecan Street Association, a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization. If you have never attended this ultra-popular event, this year is the year to do so. With over 50 bands, arts and crafts, kids’ games and oh-so-much more, you may want to go both days. And it’s a huge fundraiser that supports a variety of projects on 6th Street and the downtown area. Among those who benefit are artists, youth programs and homeless initiatives.

Sip on the Season’s Best Brews

While the adults enjoy a seasonal brew, there are usually family-friendly spaces where kids can join in on the fun. Enjoy the outdoor areas at local breweries where everyone can relax together.

Ziler Brewing Company and Tap Room
1701 East 6th Street

Austin Beer Works
3001 Industrial Terrace

Central District Brewing
417 Red River Street

Meanwhile Brewing
