The most wonderful time of the year is here, and it’s time to transform your home at Le Montreaux apartments in Austin into a festive wonderland!
Our ultimate guide to Christmas and Hanukkah decorating is packed with cheerful ideas that will fill your spaces with holiday spirit. Whether you’re draping glimmering lights on your tree, adorning your front door with a vibrant wreath, or creating a cozy atmosphere in every single corner, our tips will help you enjoy and make your home sparkle this season.
Holiday decor doesn’t have to break the bank or consume your precious time. We've curated a collection of delightful ideas that utilize small, budget-friendly decorations and clever furniture arrangements. So, you can curate the enchanting Christmas atmosphere you’ve always dreamed of without emptying your wallet!
Happy decorating!
- Infuse your home with a relaxing Scandinavian charm using a tight palette of red and white (with a hint of greenery from the tree) that inspires warmth and coziness in this lovely Utah home.
- Why stick to the traditional red and green? Embrace a pastel palette with lighter hues—think pretty pinks, delightful blues, and soft yellows that maintain a festive spirit.
- How adorable is this little tree? A vintage candy box perfectly serves as its stand, or for a fun twist, try a cookie tin for added charm!
- Add a sprinkle of cheer to your curtains by simply threading ribbons through Shiny Brites and tying them in a festive pattern.
- Drape an oversized garland across a headboard to add instant holiday cheer, swapping out accent pillows for plaid patterns to ramp up the festive ambiance.
- Craft your own enchanting garland using dried navel and blood oranges, twine, and decorative hooks—a zesty addition to your holiday decor!
- Sprinkle some Christmas cheer in your kitchen with a small wreath elegantly hanging from the window to remind you of the magic of the season while you cook and clean.
- Count down the days until Santa’s arrival with an adorable, neutral-toned advent calendar made from brown craft paper. It's sweet and simple!
- Transform the vibe of your space! A towering garland that reaches from floor to ceiling enhances the height of this cozy stone fireplace, creating an airy atmosphere.
- Make your front door sing with charm! Create these festive "bells" using mini-bundt pans and molds, complete with ornaments for clappers—finish with a bow and greenery for festive flair.
- Infuse nostalgia and warmth into your living area with a sparse alpine balsam fir in an antique copper pot, complete with bird ornaments and dried-orange garland for an organic touch.
- Incorporate non-seasonal items in festive colors to elevate every nook of your home—think coolers and camp lanterns that can seamlessly bring in holiday flair!
- Gather your family’s favorite Saint Nicks! Start collecting these charming figurines. They'll create a delightful, mismatched display atop your mantel or bureau.
- Host joyful crafting sessions around the dining table, creating “trees” from Styrofoam cones wrapped in baker's twine and topped with star cookie cutters.
- A well-placed wreath and a few holiday decor items are just the right touch to make your kitchen feel merry and bright!
- Don't forget to illuminate every corner of your home! A simple string of garland can even turn your bathroom into a merry escape.
- Bring back memories and warmth by stringing together old winter mittens—this delightful craft is perfect for kids’ rooms!
- So, gather your loved ones, heat up some hot cocoa, and let’s deck the halls with joy and laughter this holiday season!

Be it for Christmas Dinner or just to toast to a festive night on the town, the vibrant city of Austin has you covered. Below you will find a list of some of the favorite spots our family at Le Montreaux apartment community likes to dine or have a holiday toddy to celebrate all that is good in life. Wherever you choose to go, make a reservation now as many of these local’s favorites are full every night.
To give you a little history of each, we have captured their stories in the descriptions from their websites. Cheers!
Garbo’s
The Garbo's name goes back to the East Coast, where three sisters learned to adore the local lobster shacks and the catch of the day. The ocean and sandy beach were their entire life and embodied memories that the sisters are happy to share with anyone dining at their restaurant. The eldest, Heidi Garbo, took those ties to the ocean wherever she roamed from Connecticut down to the Florida Keys where she opened up the famous Garbo's Grill and met her husband, who somehow found a way to pull Heidi away from the ocean to the only land-locked home she's ever lived in, Austin, Texas.
L’ Oca d’Oro
A late-night meal was Fiore’s inspiration for this eclectic restaurant in Austin. As the story goes, the concept for L’Oca d’Oro (The Golden Goose's) first iteration was as a supper club hosted a little bit too secretly at Franklin BBQ on Sunday nights in 2013. The ‘Dinners to Rock To’ series paired menus with bands and courses with albums. Fiore indulged his most creative impulses for how and what people should eat. His new partner, running the service, picked the purplest wines he could find for the Prince dinner, the funkiest wines for the James Brown dinner, female winemakers for Nina Simone and vegan wines for The Smiths.
Diner Bar Austin
The Diner Bar is a full-service restaurant and bar with a lively, convivial spirit adjacent to the Thompson Austin’s lobby. Under the guidance of Mashama Bailey and Johno Morisano, the menu features a range of seasonal Southern dishes layered with local Texan inspiration, such as Chicken Fried Quail with regionally ground grits and Clams and Chorizo with garlic trencher.
The Peacock Mediterranean Grill
Situated in Downtown’s 2nd Street District, Austin Proper Hotel and Residences offers an artful immersion in lifestyle and well-being. With emphasis on collaboration, the passionate, compelling vision of designer Kelly Wearstler meets the culinary creativity of Austin taste-maker, MML Hospitality. They are honored to share that Travel + Leisure’s 2022 World’s Best Awards results included their establishment.
Nido
Away from the restless energy of the city, Nido at The Loren is a true rooftop oasis. Step into the glass elevator from the lobby of The Loren and emerge through the trees, and into a world of sophisticated cuisine and casually impeccable service. Seasonal cues and the finest offerings from local purveyors are signatures of Nido’s Modern American menu, uniquely balancing Texas Hill Country rusticity with refined culinary techniques and precision, paired with an extensive curated selection of wine and spirits—all against a backdrop of the very best views in the city.

]]>
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s time to get your planning underway. To help you have a fun and festive celebration, our family at Le Montreaux apartment community in Austin, Texas is sharing our top tips to ensure your Thanksgiving is the best one yet.
And from our family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season to come.
Set Your Table First
This is the perfect way to get in the mood for the fun to come. Start a week before the holiday to gather the goods and all the utensils you will need for the big feast.
Whether you are setting the table for a few or the whole clan, here are some perfectly simple ideas to make a statement that the holiday is underway.
If you still have a few gourds or (uncarved) pumpkins, place those first in the middle of the table. Apples and Pears work well to add more color.
When it comes to the place settings, you have your option from formal (China), to casual (Everyday dishes) and for the easiest of all, paper plates – which come in lots of festive designs at your local craft store or Costco.
Create Your Menu, Now.
No need to stress throughout the month; now is the time to plan all the parts from ‘soup to nuts.’ Right now, grocery stores throughout Austin are starting their Thanksgiving sales. This is always the perfect time to shop and save.
If you are planning on fixing the entire feast by yourself, you can start this week. Factor ahead make-ahead dishes that freeze well. The Pioneer Woman website has 37 options that look delicious. Take a peek now and get prepping!
If your schedule is already overwhelming, we suggest you head to one of the many Trader Joe shops in Austin for store-bought shortcuts for Thanksgiving Dinner.
Engage Your Guests
Quite often, our guests and family members will ask “can I bring something?” When planning the menu, earmark some ideas to answer, “yes!”
A simple list may include:
• Appetizers
• Salad
• Dinner Rolls
• Dessert
• Beverages
• Ice
Buy The Bird!
Once you have a good headcount, plan to serve ¾ to 1 pound of bird per person. If you want leftovers (and who doesn’t!), count up to 1 to 2 pounds of Turkey per person.
Shop for the best sale, yet do remember you get what you pay for. You may see brands that offer a super deal, yet they don’t always have the best product.
You can freeze the bird until a few days away. Just remember, thaw it in the refrigerator, not the countertop.
Check Cleaning Supplies
Nothing can ruin a holiday dinner more than red wine on a white tablecloth or carpet. We always have white vinegar and salt on hand and never hesitate to have a bottle of “Wine Away” close by as well.
Here are some excellent tips to stay ahead of the spills this holiday season. This Stain Removal Chart that is posted on RealSimple.com is a super reference to have this holiday season, and year-round. We actually printed this out and it’s hanging in a closet in our kitchen!
Plan on “Downtime” for YOU!
We like to give ourselves a pre-dinner day off, and suggest you do too. There’s no doubt you deserve it for all the planning and preparation.
And from our family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season to come.
